Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The Province of Saskatchewan is looking to Immigration as a source of talent, resources and prosperity

As one of the three Prairie Provinces in the West of Canada, Saskatchewan has an agro-based economy, and also reliant on natural resources such as forestry and aquaculture. With metropolitan locations like Saskatoon and Regina, including its immaculate wilderness area.

Saskatchewan also boasts its own Provincial Nominee Program – SINP which allures exceptionally talented immigrants from all over globe to the province. These immigrants may obtain a Saskatchewan Provincial Nomination Certificate, enabling them to apply for a permanent residency permit in Canada which is quicker to process than the other Canadian immigration classes.

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has three sub-divisions:

  1. International Skilled Worker Category
  2. Saskatchewan Experience Category
  3. Entrepreneur and Farm Category

International Skilled Worker Category

Under the International Skilled Worker Category, skilled workers are welcome to apply – especially if their desire is to reside and work in Saskatchewan. The application is on a points-based system and nominations can be made under any three of the following sub-categories.

International Skilled Worker – Employment Offer

The International Skilled Worker – Employment Offer sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is for skilled employees who have a skilled employment offer from an employer in Saskatchewan.

Existing Work Permit 

Existing Work Permit applies to people who have been working in Saskatchewan for a minimum period of six months with a valid work permit..

Hospitality Sector Project

For professionals in the hospitality sector, the Hospitality Sector Project covers people such as Housekeeper, Housekeeper Aide, Cleaning Staff, Beverage Servers etc. who need to have worked in Saskatchewan for a minimum of six months, furthermore, the employer must get an authorisation from the Province of Saskatchewan prior to an applicant’s work commencement in Canada.

Long Haul Truck Driver Project

The Long-Haul Truck Driver Project is specifically meant for people presently working in trucking firms, and have been approved in the Province of Saskatchewan. Also, it is a precondition for these drivers to be employed in Saskatchewan for at least six months predating their application.

Students 

For students, they need to have graduated from a university in Canada. Furthermore, a prerequisite for students is that they must have worked in Saskatchewan for a period of at least two years before applying, or six months if the institution is located in Saskatchewan.

Entrepreneur Sub-Category

The Entrepreneur Sub-Category is particularly for people with a desire to invest manpower and finances in Saskatchewan by creating and synergizing with other Saskatchewan businesses. The applicants in this category are required to play an active role in the management of the business. Furthermore, this sub-category also functions on an Expression of Interest Model.

Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category

The Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category is for accomplished farmers who desire substantial cash flow to expand their farming operations, and are eager to call Saskatchewan home.

International Skilled Worker Category

This category accepts applications from skilled workers who plan to live and work in the Province of Saskatchewan. Applicants are measured based on a points system and can be nominated under one of three sub-categories.

International Skilled Worker – Employment Offer

This sub-category is for skilled workers with a skilled job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.

International Skilled Worker – Occupations In-Demand 

This sub-category is for highly skilled workers with experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan, who do not yet have a job offer in the province.

International Skilled Worker – Saskatchewan Express Entry

This sub-category enables the province to nominate individuals who are already in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry pool and have skilled work experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Experience Category

This category is for foreign workers that are currently living in Saskatchewan and accepting applications under the following sub-categories:

Existing Work Permit 

Applies to individuals who have been working for at least six months under a valid work permit in Saskatchewan.

Health Professionals 

Applies to individuals who have worked as a physician, a nurse, or in another health profession in Saskatchewan for at least six months.

Hospitality Sector Project

Applies to individuals working under a valid work permit in Saskatchewan for at least 6 months including individuals working as food and beverage servers, food counter attendants, kitchen helpers, or housekeeping and cleaning staff.

Note: Saskatchewan employers require approval from the Province of Saskatchewan before hiring a worker who have been working for at least six months.

Long Haul Truck Driver Project

Applies to individuals currently working for an approved trucking firm to include drivers must be working in the Province for their current employer for a minimum of six months before applying.

Students 

Applies to graduate students from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada. Qualifying students must have worked in Saskatchewan for at least twenty-four months before applying, or for six months if the designated institution is in Saskatchewan.

Entrepreneur and Farm Category

Applies to individuals who wish to own and operate a business or farming operation in Saskatchewan.

Entrepreneur Sub-Category

Applies to individuals who wish to establish, acquire, or partner in a business based in the province.

Qualifying candidates are expected to take on an active management role in the business. The Entrepreneur sub-category also functions on an Expression of Interest basis.

Farm Owners and Operators Sub-Category

Relevant to experienced farmers with capital seeking to invest in a farming operation and settle in the province of Saskatchewan.
